Cambridge Coyotes v Parkes Hotel Football Club
Parkes Hotel were always in for a tough game, as they took on the reigning 2018 open ladies premiers, with a depleted squad through injury, sickness and other prior commitments. The injury woes continued for Parkes Hotel, with fullback Ainsley Went succumbing to a quad injury sustained in the warm-up. With no available subs Parkes Hotel were forced to play with 10 players and put in a gallant effort. Ever reliable Zarna Gould kept Parkes Hotel in the match some stunning one on one saves, and only let one past in controversial circumstances, where a Cambridge player appeared to be offside in the lead up.
The Cambridge Coyotes took control in the second half, and took advantage of some good fortune from deflections, scoring two early goals. However Parkes Hotel didn’t let the misfortune affect them and began to create a couple of chances through some excellent passing between Esther Bruce, Stacey Nash, Hayley Chester, Lauren Chester and Emily Dean. Parkes Hotel again endured a tough offside call , where midfielder Em Dean got behind the defensive line after a quality pass from Lauren Chester. It wasn’t Parkes Hotel’s day though with the ladies conceding two more late goals, taking the score to 5-0.
A special mention must go to Player Of The Match/Players Player Natasha Hodges, who never stopped running the whole game and proved very tough in defense. A second mention must go to Danielle Dean, who made an impressive debut with some quality touches.
