Parkes Hotel Football Club v Forbes All Stars
Parkes Hotel FC travelled to Forbes hoping to put last week’s performance behind them and snatch a win against an in form Forbes All Stars outfit. Forbes showed why they are 2nd on the ladder and took control of the game early. Forbes took advantage of this and scored a quality goal from 35 yards out. Forbes continued to dominate and accepted a gift goal from Parkes Hotel, after a scrap in the penalty area. Parkes manage to create a few chances with Matt Spedding and Kyle London managing to get behind the Forbes defensive line. There was controversy though, with Parkes Hotel asking for Red Card after Matt Spedding appeared to be fouled by the last man in defence. Parkes also had a penalty shout turned down when Kyle London appeared to be fouled in the Penalty area. Forbes went into the break with a 2 nil Lead.
In the 2nd half Parkes Hotel worked themselves back into the contest, though a quality strike by rookie Jacob Fredrick’s, taking the score to 2-1. The goal seemed to give Parkes Hotel confidence, as they began to attack the ball with more assertion and moved the ball forward more freely. Forbes had a couple of chances to make it 3-1, but the Parkes Hotel backline held strong and prevented this from happening. Towards the end of the game, Parkes Hotel nearly snatched a draw, through an excellent strike/cross from Peter Batt. Unfortunately it went access the goal face, keeping the score at 2-1.
Special mention must go to Jacob Fredrick’s, who scored his first goal at senior football, winning both players player and player of the match.
